Life-Guard

Birds can find changes in their environment stressful, if you are finding your poultry are struggling to adjust to life indoors, Life-Guard’s patented formula can help. The mix of vitamins and anti-oxidants helps maintain a healthy immune system along with prebiotics to support the gut flora. When met with the challenge of a new environment or different routine, Life-Guard can support poultry in maintaining their weight, egg quality, skin and feather condition and keep them as healthy as possible through difficult times.

Just a select few reasons to supplement your ‘cooped up’ chickens, ducks, geese and domestic fowl with Life-Guard...

Vitamin A – required in higher levels under stressful conditions such as a change in environment or exposure to disease. Deficiency can increase the length and severity of infection and those without access to green forage can be particularly prone.

B Vitamin – required for heart health and normal functioning of the nervous system. Deficiency results in weakness and poor feathering.

Vitamin D – vital for bone health with deficiency resulting in limb and beak deformities. Obtained through the diet and from exposure to sunlight, this must be direct as glass prevents UV penetration. Supplement orally if sunlight exposure is unable to occur.

Vitamin E – antioxidant and essential nutrient for all body systems and all ages. Deficiency can result in permanent brain damage, circulatory problems and muscle weakness.

Vitamin K – has an important role in blood clotting therefore deficiency results in bleeding disorders. Also results in increased embryo-mortality. Vitamin K is abundant in pasture and green leaves so those birds without outdoor access may need supplementing.

Fructooligosaccharides – short-chain, non-digestible carbohydrate prebiotics. Supplementation can enhance the immune response, improve intestinal mucosa and positively change the gut microbiota – increasing healthy bacteria while reducing pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella and E.Coli.

Herbal support – a selection of herbs known to strengthen immunity (Astragalus, Echinacea, Licorice) and with antioxidant activity (Milk thistle, Turmuric).

Glucosamine and MSM – supplementing glucosamine has been shown to reduce locomotor problems. This may be important if the birds are unable to exercise as normal. MSM has been shown to reduce oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is reported to cause gastrointestinal disturbances and significantly affect reproductive performance and aging.

Help your poultry adjust to the change. Add 2.5ml per litre of drinking water per bird, refresh every other day.
